Owned by the National Museum and Gallery of Wales This was the First locomotive in the world with vertical rocking beams as part of the motion work and included a fully sprung tender. Built in 1832 for the dowlais Iron Company of South Wales. This locomotive forms a unique and important part of locomotive technology and evolution. |
The production of these superb miniature replicas of Locomotives built at the Neath Abbey Iron Works has been made possible by the kind permission of Mr Alan Taylor of Taylor & Sons LTD, Engineers, Briton Ferry. Mr Taylors grandfather was a principal at the Neath Abbey Iron Works and, when he left at its closure, retained the original drawings. The working drawings for these miniatures are produced from the original drawings for which a royalty payment is made on each model sold
